Professional services – inspection of the Pointe-Benson Quay retaining wall and development of a nature park – Lévis

Groupe Conseil CHG was tasked with providing professional civil engineering, structural, urban planning and environmental services for a low-tide visual and video inspection of the Pointe-Benson quay retaining wall, and for producing a report on the quay’s condition, including recommendations on the work required and an estimate of the cost involved in bringing the wall up to standard. In addition, the town asked for a traffic assessment of the road junctions around the quay parking lot, to ensure fluidity and safety.

Pointe-Benson quay is located directly on the St. Lawrence River, halfway between the mouths of the Chaudière and Etchemin rivers. It is 190 metres long and 6 metres high, and is built of fill supported by a wall and topped by a parking lot.

Groupe Conseil CHG was also asked to assess the general condition of the fill, the base and all aspects of the quay’s longevity. The town’s aim was to create a major pedestrian development that would provide public access to the river.
